the year that was , the year that will be.

Being the first blog of the New Year, it is but obvious to take a recap of the year that was and also peep into the year that will be .

The month of March saw all of us scramming in that all crucial month for the overhyped board exams. That I started a week before is a different story.

May was the time for all the running around for application forms, dilemna of what course to chose, the numerous entrance tests and Of course finally ending up in CMS. ( stars ARE blind!)

April saw the demise of kannada superstar Rajkumar and the peaceful bangalore mourned by burning buses and killing cops.

Bangalore became Bengaluru ,( yikes!!) Italy beat France thanks to the headbutt, Kavya Vishwanathan copied ,got caught , got dissed ,Amitabh bacchan got smoothly replaced by Srk in don and in kbc for a cool 50 lakhs a show.

2006 was also a year when media had a field day. India got a lesson in biology as Mr Bacchan ( again!) got a stomach ache, brangelina descended down to india , Big B junior and lady ash played “are they , aint they” and ohh how can you forget Tinkerbell got a stomach upset !!! ( poor dog , paris hilton comes with her own side effects) .Lil Prince got stuck in a hole and the United Nations were just about to be called!

sanjay dutt and navjyot sindhu got the bars , and proved thankfully , that even celebs are not above the law.

After dilly dallying for more than a month our first ever semester exams were finally done with in December.

Personally for me year 2006 was a year of doing things that I always wanted to do. Be it getting a tattoo, going to goa or starting a blog!

The fag end of the year brought a controversial end to Saddam Hussein ( i saw the video on youtube.and having nightmares since then), as to Manu Sharma the prime accused in the Jessica lal murder case..
And the ghastly noida children killings were revealed. Necromaniacs and cannibals still existed , (or existed at all!) who would’ve thought !!

Inxs and deep purple rocked the city while the ubiquitous himesh reshammaiya won hearts by singin through nose!

2006 undoubtedly was a year of india.
The revolutionary Rang de Basanti was the treat of 2006 as was India’s first superhero Krissh. Gandhism ,an old wine was presented in a new bottle in lage raho and gulped by the entire nation .

On the corporte front ,Mittal took over Arcelor ,while tata did Corus and M&M joined hands with renault.
it will be also be remembered as the year of the retail revolution and technology boom in india..When Indians got wired to the wireless world , ipods became as common as wallets , and everyone u knew was on orkut!

Fast forward 2007

Another year full of hopes , resolutions ,scandals , surprises and a year of the PIG according to Chinese astrology !
And that reminds me next month will see a few lucky ones of us from our college making it to the most awaited “IV”.( international visit) to China! hope they get me some authentic chinese food parceled;-)

The pitiful performance of the Indian cricket team continued even in the New Year and they 're back shamefaced to the cricket crazy country, just a month away from the cricket world cup 2007. Ganguly made hay while the sun shone ( down on india that's a different story!!) and sehwag is out.( poor guy. is it the absense of the milk or maa ka msg?)


The ultra sexy Iphone’s been out for hardly 2 days and cisco systems has
Already sued apple for using its trademark “iphone” .( sour grapes ?!)

In Precipice , our college fest , teams from noida ,pune and kolkata n the bigwig companies and participants ranging from 17 to 70 ,A brilliant quiz by giri balasubramaniam and a two hour gig by Raju shrivastava made sure everyone was glued to the 750+seats.

For some of us , 2007 will also mark a sad end to the phenomenon Harry potter as J.K Rowling brings out the last book in the series “harry potter and the deathly hallows” in june .but as they say “don’t be sad its over , be glad it happened”
( rowling is the richest woman in the Uk already , good on her)
