after a wait of 17 years! ( ok quite honestly i dint start listening to em when i was 1 but u could start listening to em 5 minutes before n be their slaves for life!
almost after 2 monthfuls of speculation about maiden coming to bangalore , the dream finally came true when the GODS of metal descended down in india IN BANGALORE!! never felt so proud of being a bangaloren before! remember discussing with a fren the chances of a band like maiden playing in india n laughin it off!
its only maiden u could spend a months ( or 2) pocket money without a grudge, stand in the queues in the month of march at 2 in the afternoon and camp in the heat for 4 hours struggling to get a gulp of water!!
yes that was the scene , pro maiden came on stage !
65000 odd people from the length n breadth of the Indian subcontinent and the far east were at bangalore , to watch the gods perform n i was told that some maiden bhakts even camped overnight at palace grounds to grab the first rows ( smartest lot!)
So after much delay and the restlessness , FTN showed up round at 5 n blared out numbers which could give a complex to a KG band ! ( now i know why they're called "fuck the name" !)
and when ur opeing for soemone liek Maiden , the crowd shows no mercy..the times quoted as saying "they were booed off stage"
FTN were followed by Parikrama n they werent as bad as FTN but the wait for maiden was jus getting too much now ,,,lauren harris ( found hot by soem guys) nonetheless was just a famous surname but a big BORE. ( britney could do better!)

the crowd heaved a big sigh!
n all the eyes went wide open as BRUCE dickinson finally showed up and Began the EDD fest with different world ( different world indeed it was at the concert!)
it was followed by 'these colours dont run ' " brighter than a thousand suns ' reincarnation of benjamin breeg' and 'for the greater good of god' from the new album-a matter of life and death but the appetite had just been whetted. there was more to come.
finally the metalmasters unleashed their classics with 'the wrathchild" ( which as a touching gesture they dedicated to late leon of moksha) . in came " the number of the beast' and the crowd went into a tizzy.the backdrops changed after every 2 songs and the JACK-in-the-box came as the Giant EDDIE in a tanke smashing thru the backdrop !!
,iron maiden , fear of the dark ( loved doing the hoooooooo part!!) , run to the hills ,the trooper, 2 minutes to midnight and the evil that men do ( never mind the order!) were swallowed by the hungry crowd but the show was far from over!
a Hagrid sized person ( or robot?) dressed as eddie walked on stage! ( a fantasy come true for people like me who thought the eddie was gonna be an effigy!)
fo a minute it seemed they were gone , but everyone knew they werent n they came back with the classic "hallowed be they name" and ended the dream evening,...
fuk times , they pushed the concert to the 2nd pg where stuff liek problems of garbage disposal n stary dogs appear!
all in all , hungover on maiden!! i still am!
ohh man only if they could last more !!it was still sinkin in , when they bid adieu!!!
i really hope n pray they come back within 17 months as they promised!
next time i m camping overnight n grabbing the 1s row to catch em up close!
